2018 Hazmat Challenge
Final Results!!
The North Carolina Association of Hazardous Materials Responders hosted the 2018 South Atlantic Fire and Rescue Expo's "HAZMAT CHALLENGE" in Raleigh on Saturday August 11, 2018 from 8am-5pm.   Twelve (12) teams competed!
This "skills based," two part competition requires a 4-person team to compete in various scored elements within established time periods.
Part One: Teams were required to strategically analyze and answer specific questions pertaining to research, monitoring, and general hazmat emergency response terminology.

Part Two: Teams were required to properly contain leaks on various props and perform manipulative skills.
Congratulations to ALL Teams!!!!

2018 Hazmat Challenge Registration

2018 South Atlantic Fire and Hazmat Expo
 
Saturday August 11th at 7:30am to 12pm
Raleigh Convention Center
Room 206

If you are new to the Conference or to the Hazmat Challenge, this event is sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Hazardous Materials Responders and allows your Hazardous Materials Team to practice some typical response drills while competing against your colleagues from across the State of North Carolina.

Each member will receive an individual certificate indicating their placement in the competition. The first place team will receive the Winners Trophy to take back to their home department for one (1) year. 

Registration for the 2018 South Atlantic Fire and Hazmat Expo, Hazmat Challenge will ensure your team will receive a pre-competition packet including events in the challenge, rules of the competition, and a penalty schedule for non-conformance with competition rules.

The registration is free.  This year, the Raleigh Fire Department will be providing Scott Bottles for those who use Scott SCBA.  Please bring your own face mask.  For those who do not use Scott SCBA, please bring your own pack.  Protective clothing (splash suits, boots, inner and outer gloves) will be provided for competition use. 

The competition will consist of four (4) person teams performing various hazmat entry related activities while wearing Level B PPE.
