Chemistry of Hazardous Materials Course

The Monroe Fire Department is pleased to announce that we will be hosting an 80 Hour “Chemistry of Hazardous Materials” class from May 13th-24th. Captain Tony Bateman (Retired) from Charlotte Fire Department and current Central Piedmont Community College instructor will be delivering the instruction for this class. Tony spent a large portion of his career in the Hazardous Materials response and is recognized as an expert in this field. Tony delivers chemistry in a very educational, enjoyable and practical way. Students successfully completing this course will receive a certificate of completion from Charlotte Mecklenburg Emergency Management. This class is follows the NFA model and meets the Chemistry requirement for your OSFM Hazmat Technician certification.   In conjunction with South Piedmont Community College (SPCC), this class will be offered at no cost to emergency services personnel at SPCC’s Monroe Campus. The Schedule will be from 8:00 am – 5:00pm each day.
